I was so suprised and touched to receive an e-mail from my dear friend Shelia Boyd. She gave me this wonderful award and I wanted to share it with you! She said that she wanted to pass this on to someone who was a new bloggers and wanted everyone to check out our fabulous work. I feel so honored by receiving this award! You are such a good example for everyone, Shelia. Shelia has been a friend to me for several years. She is a good Christian mother, wife, and example for everyone she comes in contact with. I am so blessed by knowing her and her family. Thank You Shelia! I am speechless! Ok, now, I must chose 3 people to receive this award. The people that I choose are people that I admire and truely enjoy spending time with. They are people who are absolutely themselves, kind, caring, and most of all genuine. My award winners are: Stephanie @ Stephanie Eden Studio, Brandie @ Dream Custom Art Work, and Tabetha @ Reminisce Heirlooms. These 3 ladies are absolutely wonderful people and I truely admire them. With their personalities, their families, and their work. They are truely "good people". Happy New Year to all of you!

Wednesday Night At Church
I just had to share these wonderful pictures of my Wednesday night class at church. I teach the 3rd-5th grade class at Westwood church of Christ. I chose "The Role of a Christian Woman in the Church" as my topic for this quarter. I have taught the girls about how important their work as young ladies is in the church. We've talked about how important they are as future christians. They can do such great work for example: make communion bread, send cards to the sick, make gift baskets, collect boxes of kleenex for the sick in the hospital, have a prayer list, and so forth. Tonight my girls signed cards for the sick and shut ins. We are going to mail them tomorrow. We also signed cards for our soldiers in the military. I am so very proud of these girls. They are so precious! They each have jobs to do in class! From writing the names of the prayer list on the board, leading prayer, helping others, cleaning up, coming up with wonderful acts of kindness.
This Sunday the girls and I are going to make communion bread. This is such a wonderful thing for them to learn. Katie and I learned it several years ago when we attended Central. Ms. Johnnie Walker has a beautiful recipe for it in her recipe cookbook. If you can, please read this. It is such a warm uplifting recipe.

New Years Eve Orders!!!
Jam Cakes and Christmas Sweets!
I know that some folks have their own traditions, from making Christmas candy to shopping trips. At my mother-in-law's her tradition is to make everyone in the family Jam Cakes. She gives everyone in the family one for Thanksgiving. Of course, ours doesn't make it past Thanksgiving. It is wonderful! She has a recipe that is Top Secret. She has shared this recipe with me and I was so tickled when Dean Gay asked me to make her one! This is a double layer cake with all of the bells and whistles inside. The cake has cream cheese icing between the layers and is smothered with delicious caramel icing. I love to decorate it with the traditional cherries and whole pecan pieces. I hope that Dewey stays out of it until Christmas! Dean is my cousin through the Griffith clan. I just love them to death! Merry Christmas!Just can't stop making those delicous cookies! I am taking orders through Friday, Dec. 21st for cakes, pies, candy, and trays. Orders placed by 5 p.m. on Friday can be filled for Sunday, Dec. 23rd pickup or delivery.

Happy Birthday Katwoman
Barbara Hall called me a few days ago needing a cake for her daughter Kathy Brewer's aka "The KatWoman" birthday. Barbara really enjoyed my wedding cake samples that I had at the Craft Fair back in November. I did her great-granddaughter's Minnie Mouse cake just shortly after. This is a delicious homemade white cake with almond butter cream icing. I hope you enjoy this Kat! (Kathy is married to my cousin Matt)
Katrina Haley and Glenda Taylor ordered these darling Christmas cookies. I hope that you girls enjoy these sweet cookies. Sherry Trottman at the Board of Education said that they really did enjoy the last ones I dropped off there! Merry Christmas to all my friends and customers at the Board of Education!

Birthday Cakes Or Just For Your Indulgence
When you choose a cake for that perfect occassion, consider one with filling like this delicious chocolate cake with chocolate filling between the milk chocolate and devils food layers. Gotta love chocolate!
For the sports fan, this cake can be a baseball, golf ball, basketball or soccer ball. I can even do the entire ball free-standing.

There's No Place Like Home
Today I am thankful to have all of my children under one roof. John Ryan is finally home from college for Winter Break. No matter how big my children have gotten, I always want them at home at night. I guess you call it the "Mother Hubbard Syndrome". I do wish that UT was closer to home so we could see him more often. He told me yesterday on the phone that he couldn't wait to get home. He said that "When I get home, I'm going to kiss the ground". I'm sure that he misses all of us very much, but I do believe he misses my cooking the most. His favorite thing is having breakfast for supper. I am going to surprise him tonight and fix him a huge supper, salmon patties, gravy and biscuits and all. Like Dorothy use to say "There's No Place Like Home."

The Dream Team
I know that it is late but I just had to share this wonderful picture of the girls. Tonight Katie's team won the 5th and 6th grade basketball tournament. I know I have told you in the past about how proud I am of these girls, but I would like to share something special with everyone. Tonight the girls were playing their hearts out. Every girl got to play in the championship game. These girls have spent hours on top of hours practicing. I know that some of us moms have felt like our second home is Centertown's gym. We have watched these girls run drills, scrimaging each other and the boys 7th and 8th grade, run sprints and practice, practice, and practice. Felicia and Phillip did an outstanding job teaching these girls the fundamentals of basketball and sportmanship.
Centertown Lady Warriors

Welcome To Our Home For Christmas!
Merry Christmas to everyone! My children, John and I put our Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving. I am sorry that I haven't shared this with you before today. In years past we always put up a real tree. This is when I worked for AP and Michael Hallum. They always let me go to the field and pick out a beautiful Blue Spruce. Decorating our tree is a family tradition that we love! We always decorate it the day after Thanksgiving, now matter how early we got up that day to go Christmas shopping. Dillon and Katie put all of the ornaments on the tree just as is. They did a great job! And what about my Ho, Ho, Ho? I love this! Kathy Brewer and I were shopping in Murfreesboro last year and spotted these adorable letters! I just couldn't resist! When you walk in the back door that is the first thing you see along with the tree.
Several years ago we put in our hardwood floors and I love my oak steps and handrails. My friend Holly gave me these darling Joy, Friends, Hope, and Love ornaments. I think that it just makes my decorations look so festive.
Our matle keeps growing and growing each year. Over the years I have collected Old World Santa's and Snowmen. I have all shapes and sizes. This year my children wanted me to put my Hawaiian decorated trees and my Santa's and Snowmen together infront of the fireplace. And of course, I did. I love the red, white, and silver colors. Some of the things down there are the most precious things I own. Of course, it's the decorations my children have made or given me over the years. My childrens stockings are very special to me as well. I made each one of their stockings when they were babies for their First Christmas presents. Ms. Fuzzy did a wonderful job on mine and John's. We got those last year when ours fell apart (after 21 years).
This picture doesn't give my mantle justice. It is my absolute favorite thing in my house at Christmas! With the beautiful crystal snowflakes falling from the ceiling and everything with a hint of ice and sparkle. Who says you can have too much bling? Not me! I hope that eveyone remembers the true meaning of Christmas!

The Sweet Honest Words of a Child
I know that I have asked myself the question "Am I teaching my children what I want them to know and believe?" Well, my question was answered Friday when my daughter Katie's picture was in the Mini Standard as the 1st place winner of the Writing Contest. Her essay was so sweet. For those who didn't get a chance to read it, here it goes:
Let's Give Thanks
I am Thankful for the sun and the moon, the day and the night, God created us and all the pretty sights.
I am thankful for my family and friends. I'm thankful for the veterans who serve in the army to fight for our freedom.
I am thankful for Jesus dying on that cruel cross for our sins.
I am thankful for just being myself in who I am!
I am thankful for my bestfriends, Alejandra, she is always right beside me, helping me when I'm feeling blue.
I am thankful for my life!
I was speechless and teary eyed! I am thankful for my three beautiful children! I love you very much!

The Fru Fru Cake Is Here
Wow, what a stunning cake! Everyone who is a fru fru girl would love this dazzling cake! This cake is made with fondant and I am not fond of fondant. My favorite would be this entire take in almond flavored buttercream icing decorated just like this one.
I can visualize this cake at a Garden Wedding. What do you think girls?

Christmas In The Park 2007
I am overwhelmed with the response from Christmas in the Park! It was fabulous!!!!
I would like to say a special Thank You to the following people: my husband John, Kathy and Rudie Thomsen, and Kenny Hodges. If it hadn't been for John, I could not have completed my booth! He helped me with all of the set up and with all of the customers and closing down last night! I love you! Kathy and Rudie for all of their help with the hot chocolate! You will never know how much I appreciate you! Kenny Hodges for bringing me the tent and help us set it up in the grassy area. Paul Holder and Co. for letting us use their electricity and water while ours was down. The City of McMinnville Employees who helped us get our power restored the many, many times it went down. And a special thank you to my two children Dillon and Katie for not fussing about staying at home. Both children have asthma and we couldn't risk them getting sick. Especially for the tournament next week Katie will be playing in and as well for both of them with Christmas coming up.
Thank you to Natalie Miller, Stephanie Ward, Shelia Boyd, Shawna Wiley and all of the Junior Auxiliary members! You girls are so sweet! I hope that I can set another booth up next year!
Thank you to all of my customers who came to my booth! I can't believe how many hot dogs, chili, hot chocolate, and hot Dr. pepper we sold. John and I had a bet on how much we would sell. Of course, he lost! lol I love the comment that Shannon left about the booth! Thank You!
Boy it sure was cold! But the most funny thing that happened last night, happened when the Kenny Chesney look-a-like was up on stage. Kathy and Rudie got a kick out of me singing "All I Want For Christmas Is A Real Good Tan". Rudie wanted me to get up there and sing with him. Don't think so brother! I am a bathroom singer not a stage singer. I just like Kenny's music!

December's Cake
This cake is a wonderful cake for a small wedding. I chose this cake to be a December cake because of the delicate decorations. Accented with tulle and seasonal flowers this cake would be great for an anniversary celebration as well. A step away from tradition, this cake has more simple lines that speak for itself. This cake can be up scaled for a large wedding with satellite cakes as well.
Cookies For Santa
Sherry Trottman at the Board of Education ordered these darling cookies. She was so excited when she saw Shelia's orders. These sugar cookies make me remember a Christmas from the past when we all got mittens in our stockings. These mittens look like they have fur on them. I hope you enjoy these Ms. Sherry.

Home For The Holidays
I have been working really hard getting things done so I can get my home decorated for Christmas! I am a beach dwelling person if you didn't figure that out before! I have my table set and ready for Christmas!
Red, White, and Gold are my chosen colors for this season's table settings. I love my china and crystal. The china is Shenandoah by Noritake and my crystal is Tea Rose by Mikasa. Believe it or not, the roses pattern on each piece matches perfectly. I will never forget the morning that Dawn Griffith (my cousin Brent's wife) called me from Touch O' Klass. She featured me as their first bridal registry. I remembered how I didn't look at the prices and did not realize until a week or so later, that I had picked out the most expensive china in the store. Needless to say, I have loved it very, very much! I have had a lot of comments in the past about how beautiful it is. One day, I hope to pass it on to Katie. And let's not forget the Ho, Ho, Ho Tassie Plate.

It's Beginning To Look Alot Like Christmas!
I have a wonderful friend in Shelia Boyd. I created these precious cookies just for her. I am truely blessed by having Shelia as a friend! I hope that you enjoy these Ms. Shelia!
I chose a simple sugar cookie and decorated them as snowflakes, snowmen, and wreaths. I changed the pattern on the wreaths and added a blanket of snow for the snowman.
All of my cookies and cakes are uniquely different. There are no two the same!
