Prayers and Cookies and Cookies and Prayers

As you may know, my family are members at Westwood Church of Christ. They have a wonderful program headed up by Beth Deason. It's called "Prayer Warriors". Each child that is in school, weather it be pre-school to college, no one is excluded is prayed for all year. Each child has a questionaire about them and where they attend school. You add a picture of your child and then, someone will choose a child and they are their "Prayer Warrior". This year we chose Sumner Hildreth and Kristy Navarette. Sumner is in the 10th grade at WCHS and Kristy is in the 3rd grade at West Elementary.

I know that Sumner is a HUGE UT fan along with her boyfriend Cody. So...I thought she would love these darling star cookies with her initial on them.

Kristy is the sweetest little one I have ever seen. She is like my daughter's shadow. So...I thought since tomorrow is the last big "Whoo Rah" of Summer (Labor Day) and autumn coming near, I thought she might need some pumpkin cookies with orange sprinkles!

My daughter Katie's Prayer Warrior is The Gribble Family. Hannah gave Katie the sweetest gift today and a sweet card. She gave her a darling choker necklace with ballet slippers and a charm bracelet with pointe shoes on them. Katie was thrilled! She begins pointe in ballet in just a couple of weeks and can't wait to get fitted in her own pointe shoes!

The Grapes Are Being Harvested!

Yesterday, my Mother and I started working on our Concord Grapes. John and I started picking them on Sunday (yes in the rain) and yesterday we started the process. Our grape juice is absolutely beautiful!
I have begun taking orders for grape jelly.
1/2 pints are $4.00 each
My children will not eat store bought jelly and preserves, they only want my homemade recipes.
My Concord Grape Jelly is a 1st Place Blue Ribbon Winner @ The WC A&L Fair.
Have a wonderful day!

First Place Apple Dumplings

I found this recipe on the web and with all of the apples we are harvesting, I have just got to try it. It looks delicious! I will let you know how it is tomorrow.

Happy Anniversary To The Patrick's

Kandice Patrick texted me a few days ago and asked me to make something special for her husband Jerry for their 1st Anniversary. She said he loves his Mustang and that anything with the Ford emblem would be perfect. She decided she wanted some "fantabulous" sugar cookies and here they are!
Kandice is a fan of my White Chocolate Pretzels with Cinnamon Sugar Sprinkles.

Star Wars/R2D2

Dena Evans ordered this darling 3D cake for her son Brett's 10th birthday. Brett loves Star Wars and everything about it. We chose to do R2D2. He is a Homemade Dark Chocolate cake with buttercream icing.

I've Got Sunshine On A Cloudy Day

Well today is the first day for Ms. Tina Smith's class at the Learning House. And of course, it's a "Cloudy Day" and with it being Monday, I thought that these Sunshine Cookies would be perfect to help cheer up the kids on this cloudy day.
Jamie and Tina are some of our most favorite people and have the sweetest three children ever! I hope that they enjoy these cookies as much as I enjoyed making them for her and their fellowship last night!

Sharing the LOVE

Today I was at the grocery (can you imagine that I would be somewhere besides there) and thought about something that happened last week. My dear, dear friend Bridgett Powers gave me this BEAUTIFUL tray. She was on a trip with her son Clint in Nashville and when she went into Harry and David's she saw this beautiful tray and she said that she thought of her friend...ME. So...I thought I would share it with my friends in our "Young Adult" class at church tomorrow. I just had to put some wonderful homemade muffins on this tray. Double Chocolate, Chocolate Chip, Strawberry Struesel, Apples & Cinnamon.
Thank You Bridgett for thinking of me!

A Little Blog Catch Up

Sunday, August 17th is a very special day in our family and will be a special day for the Wilson family as well. That's my daughter Katie's birthday and Carrie Wilson's wedding in Kingston, Tennessee. This cake is going to be delivered tomorrow to Whitestone Inn. Carrie also ordered some of my wonderful hand-pressed cream cheese mints. Beautiful white hearts will a compliment after the sit-down-meal reception.
Kandice Dyer-Patrick ordered these wonderfully sweet pretzels. They have been dipped in white chocolate and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Kandice is a wonderful friend and I really enjoy talking with her! She is absolutely the sweetest. She has been making me some early Christmas gifts and when she came to pick her pretzels and Peach Cobbler, she brought my ornaments and she had made me the most adorable kitchen towel with Simply Joy Catering stitched on it! If you like classy, stylish items....then jump on over to her blogspot. I have it attached in my favorite at the bottom of this page! She's got a sale on right now...check it out!

Michelle Prater is a wonderful and thoughtful person! She is absolutely a precious friend. I am so blessed by knowing her! She ordered this cake for her husband Trad's birthday. Awaiting The Arrival Of Braylen

My new friend Kristie ordered this darling cake for a baby shower she was hosting this past Saturday. She gave me a couple of weeks ago a napkin so I could see the theme of the shower. It was the most darling little train and below it had a sweet little bow tied. The colors were Tiffany box blue, tan, and green. Kristie told me that I could have fun with it. So....I let my creative juices flow. I made the entire train out of cake. When I delivered to the shower, I wish you could have seen every ones excitement!

The Last WhooRah Before School Starts

On Monday, Dillon had some of his friends out to swim and enjoy the day....with school starting Thursday, this was a fun day for all of them. I had to fix them homemade pizza's and my homemade hot fudge cakes. I got so tickled at Macrae when he yelled out "Ms. Joy you are my hero! I love you!" I did not know that hot fudge cakes was Macrae's favorite dessert. Macrae cleaned his dessert plate and when he finished it looked like he hadn't been served at all. Logan asked for seconds.
I remember when all of these kids were in diapers. Now they are off to the High School!

Go get 'em boys!
